Architecture of Gaudi
The main reason of popularity of this city is sophisticated architecture of Antonio Gaudi. This visionary design many interesting buildings, which are spread whole around the Barcelona. The most popular is Sagrada Familia cathedral, which is perfect mix of Gothic and Catalan style. Another, nice piece of Gaudi is Casa Milla, mansions situated in the center district of city. It is in shape of waves, and exterior designed are covered by shells and colourful stones. Even Las Ramblas, one of the longest streets in the world, was decorated by Gaudi. He used parts of stones, colourful glass and shells to make his ornamentation.
Of course Barcelona has a lot of nice architectural objects, which were designed before Gaudi was born. If you like to see some nice temple go to the cathedral of Saint Eulalia, inside you will find amazing interior design. For even more medieval buildings you can visit Bari Gotic, beautiful district, the oldest part of the city. It is filled with charming, small mansions and narrow, shady streets covered by stones. The main meeting place of Barcelona is the Montjuic Square, with phenomenal, Baroque Palace at top of it.
In the city you will also find the Museum of Pablo Picasso the biggest in the world. You shouldn’t miss it, even if you are not big fan of art. For a longer trip you can go to the Montserrat, amazing, medieval cloister, situated at the top of tall mountain, just outside the city.
